Types of hosting solutions

A hosting solution refers to hoarding and/or sharing certain content on a server handled by a website hosting vendor. There are different classes of hosting services used for different purposes, so let's have a gaze at these. Doing so, you can choose what you want, depending on whether you wish to create a web portal, emails, or to share files with friends and associates.

- File hosting: a service provided by certain firms, which lets you share enormous files. These could be disk images, motion pictures, audio files, archived documents, and so on. This solution is also known as file storage, and its single aim is to share files, since it does not offer web site uploading. Once the files are uploaded, you will either get a randomly generated download link for each of them, or you will be able to explore an index of all the files in a directory, but you will be unable to load .html or .php web page files in your web browser. Free file storage services are frequently supported by exhibiting adverts by the download links, while a timer forces you to await a certain spell of time to see them. A single file can be downloaded with limited speed. If you run a paid file hosting plan, there are no limitations as to how many files you can upload/download at once, and also there is no limit in regard to the download speed or the file size.

At present, with the assistance of the cPanel hosting firms, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more stylish "cloud hosting". This is a totally awry interpretation of the actual connotation of "cloud hosting". A real cloud website hosting platform would allocate the workload between separate groups of hosting servers in a cluster, which are committed to serving different web space hosting services (mail, storage space, statistics, DNS, databases, hosting Control Panel, etc.) So, the file hosting service is merely a brand of a disk storage hosting solution, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even close.

- Image hosting: comparable with file hosting; some corporations provide a hosting service for images exclusively. This hosting brand is good if you would like to share a huge quantity of images with pals or colleagues since the solution is generally free. You will receive a random link for each image or album and you can then share this link. As with the file storage service, .html and .php files are not supported, so the service cannot be utilized for web sites.

- E-mail hosting: a service committed to managing your e-mail addresses. Some suppliers provide hosting services for sites, but do not provide an email hosting service. If you want to run a mail address with your domain name but do not want to own a website, then the e-mail hosting service is what you want. You can create email address accounts and manage them, but there will be no web solution for the domains. The e-mail hosting solution involves incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP email servers.

- Video hosting: this solution permits you to upload and share video clips. You can either share a link to some video, or you can embed the video clip in your website that is hosted elsewhere. The advantage of availing of this method instead of uploading the video clip in a web hosting account is that the video clip generates a certain amount of CPU load, so with several video files and a few hundred site viewers, you may have a problem with your web space hosting quotas. Embedding the video file will allow you to own as many video clips as you wish without bothering about system resources.

- Web hosting: this is the solution that you require if you would like to own a web site. To a certain degree, it consists of all of the aforementioned hosting groups since, along with your web sites, you can also host images and files, you can set up databases and email accounts, upload videos, etc. At NTC Hosting, for instance, you can take a gaze at web hosting and dedicated hosting accounts that allow you to get all of the aforementioned solutions in a single place. There may be restrictions based on the type of hosting solution that you've chosen - a free hosting plan, a paid shared hosting package, a VPS or a dedicated server. Based on that, your web space hosting package may be better or worse compared to the standard email/file/video/image hosting accounts that are designed for specific web content exclusively.
